HYPNOTHERAPY FAQs
Hypnotherapy is a gentle and effective therapeutic process which takes place whilst you are under hypnosis. It will bring about a positive and beneficial change to your life.
Hypnosis allows you to let go of unwanted habits, thought patterns and behaviour patterns. You will be able to process memories or past experiences in a healthier way so they no longer have a negative effect on your life in the present.

What will it feel like to be hypnotised?
The hypnotic trance feels very different for each individual: some people remember everything; others remember very little. It is a natural "altered" state similar to the feeling of being completely engrossed in a book or a task. Indeed, any "flow" activity like painting or playing a musical instrument can create a kind of trance state.
There is no mind control: a hypnotic state is not something which is done to you; you are in complete control. There is no loss of consciousness and you cannot get "stuck" in a trance.

How many sessions will I need?
I aim to help you in the shortest possible number of sessions. Hypnotherapy is a comparatively rapid treatment and I find most problems can be improved or overcome in one to three sessions.
What happens in a session?
Sessions begin with a relaxed chat about the problem: how it started, the symptoms and what obstacles have stopped you overcoming it in the past.
I will use NLP or CBT techniques where appropriate and then use hypnosis to embed those change. I will always make a recording of this part of the session which I will ask you to listen to daily for a week or two.

Do you only use hypnosis?
I do specialise in using hypnosis to treat clients but I complement this approach by using other therapies such as neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), the talking therapies (counselling and psychotherapy) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
